At-home DNA collections are commonly called non-legal tests. They provide the same information as a legal DNA test, but they are not intended for use in a court of law. If you just want to know this information but do not need to use that information in a court case, at-home kits are for you.
Please note the difference between the tests.
Non-legal testing cost less than legal because it does not require the chain of custody protocols. The same equipment and procedures are used with both legal and non-legal testing so your results are just as accurate.
If you plan to use your test results for a child support case or other court case, you may want to order a legal DNA test. If you think you need a legal test click here.
